Marching Band
(Summers only)
(Cost to be determined, but will include Band Camp and
fees.)
This is a new
opportunity that we are planning for the summer of
2006. Much preparation work must be done to bring this
together. Home School Marching Band is an exciting
opportunity for JNHSB students to publicly perform
before crowds of people each year.
The Marching Band
season will begin with one week of band camp (day camp)
and continue through the summer months. Students meet
weekly on a (to be decided) morning to rehearse for the
parades they will be performing in. To participate in
Marching Band in the summer, students must be enrolled
in the previous Concert Season. This band is available
for all Intermediate, Advanced and Concert Band
students. Beginning Band students must audition to
enroll.
Future
Parade Dates
If you would like
to see the Joyful Noise Homeschool Marching Band come to
a parade in your community, please get the parade
organizers to send us their request in writing. Some
dates, (such as July 4th) may have a waiting list. We
cannot possibly fill all the invitations each year but
we would like to go to the communities where band
families live.
Current
Needs
We are currently
looking for a Marching Director for this band, as well
as parents willing to serve as Coordinators. Like all
of Joyful Noise Programs, the marching band will need
much volunteer support by parents of students involved.
Work must begin now to collect information on parades
this season, so we include them in our marching schedule
next summer. To keep costs low, marching students will
need to be involved in fund raisers to purchase uniforms
and marching percussion equipment. All students are
welcome.
Colorguard
Sr. Colorguard
/ Jr. Colorguard
Colorguard
programs are available in the summer for girls age 7-19.
The students will meet for band camp with the band, and
learn to march with them. They will continue to meet
once a week with the band.
Jr.
Colorguard is
for the young beginners who will learn angles using
flags and other equipment performing routines to music.
Ages 7 to 11
Sr.
Colorguard
is more
advanced for the older girls who will learn to use swing
flags, rifles, and sabers combined with simple ballet
movements set to music.
All girls will
be required to purchase uniform shoes and equipment.
